April is World Wish Month
About Make-a-Wish Orange County and The Inland Empire.
World Wish Month is a global celebration inspired by the first wish ever granted in 1980. Our history is traced back to Chris Greicius, a 7-year-old boy diagnosed with leukemia, who wanted nothing more than to become a police officer. Chris’ wish to become a police officer inspired six compassionate individuals to step forward, making him Arizona’s first honorary state patrolman and igniting a global movement of hope.
Every April, Make-A-Wish celebrates World Wish Month in honor of that first wish and the countless moments of courage it has inspired. While the world continues in its routine, wish kids don’t get a break from the challenges of critical illness. Their days are filled with medical appointments, uncertainty, and the emotional toll of missing out on the experiences that help children grow, connect, and dream. But during World Wish Month, you can help change that. With community support, Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire (OCIE) can turn April into a powerful celebration of joy and possibility, giving wish kids and their families renewed strength and hope.

Across Orange, San Bernadino, and Riverside counties, over 400 critically ill children are waiting for their life‑changing wishes. As we honor the wish that started it all, Make-A-Wish OCIE invites you to join us throughout April 2026 in bringing those wishes to life.
